threads of feeling

I have quite the story to share with you, sweet readers. These textile swatches below come from the The Foundling Museum in London. Threads of Feeling showcases swatches from the bundles that children were wrapped in when left at The Foundling Hospital during the 18th & 19th  Centuries. Back in the day, the hospital also acted as an orphanage – a safe spot for the children to hopefully be taken care of, away from the pervasive poverty of the day. Now transformed into  a museum, this remarkable collection of art, period interiors and social history is now housed in a restored and refurbished building adjacent to the original site of the Hospital, which was demolished in 1928.
