our Big Sur…part 2

I wanted to share some more pics from our weekend in Big Sur. Have you spent time there? If so, you know that the mornings welcome you with a cozy blanket of fog, fresh from the ocean. There’s nothing better to complement a morning like that than a strong cup of coffee and some journal writing.

The fog smelled like licorice and lavender, and all around us was silence. Dense, foggy silence. We had enough room to absorb the morning in our own way. Slowly waking up to the day, we let life sink in.Heather found her balance, so to speak. After our slow cozy morning, we headed to Deetjen’s and were greeted by beautiful flowers and cabins. This place feels like you have stepped back in time to a hidden spot deep in the country.I had this breakfast twice. The eggs benedict at Deetjen’s will never disappoint. The redwoods called our name, as did the sound of a waterfall up ahead. The air was cool and crisp, and the old trees felt strong and powerful. There is something about redwoods that makes you want to be quiet, and just take in what they have in store for you. This was a lovely spot to end up. Near the waterfall, under a fallen tree, you can sit and just absorb, or choose to let go. Check out some more of our trip on Heather and Jeana’s blogs if you haven’t already. Please take a trip with your girlfriends to Big Sur! It’s rewarding and rejuvenating in ways you would never have expected…
