beauty & groom

Soooo, you may remember a little while back I posted about the fabulous RMS Beauty and their lip & skin balm. RMS kindly contributed to the gift bags for the dinner party we designed for Earth Day. I still use the balm every day (or 10 times a day) and my lips are perfectly pleased. And now, I’m excited to have discovered their lip2cheek (says it all, right?).  These little color pots are free of harmful chemicals, totally organic, and created to heal your skin while you use them. What’s not to like about that? Have any of you tried their products? Some cream eye shadow colors below as well.

Also! Have you heard about this collaboration between Edun organics and Sephora for their product with a  ’globally minded mission’? Personally, the thought of Sephora gives me anxiety due to the complete scent-sory and visual overload of their mega store,  however I am curious enough to venture in and see how this pairing with Edun has turned out. I’ll also be checking in with the go-to-girls for clean beauty products over at No More Dirty Looks and see what they think about the ingredients…Will get back to you all on it!

beekman boys

Okay NY friends out there! Head to abc carpet & home for a series of Tues eve. conversations curated by dr.brent ridge of Beekman 1802. The talks will cover everything from cheese artisans how-to’s for creating local cheeses, the secrets of a delicious heirloom vegetable garden, to cultivating the next crop of local farmers. I’m a fan of the Beekman products, and the gift buyer in me can appreciate the smart ideas they come up with for their goods: monthly goat milk soaps (packaged to perfection), 1900-1950 vegetable collection representing varieties that were planted at their farm, heirloom linens with patterns representative of the details of their farmhouse. If you’re not yet familiar with their story, check it out, or you can certainly get a glimpse of their process on their new show (which I have yet to see!) Have any of you seen it yet?

Pharmacy

Oh Joy did a darling post last week on flowers – her pic reminded me to pull out some of my favorite old pharmacy labels and tack them back up to my inspiration board.

For  some true Southern history related to vintage pharmaca, check out this story on my namesake Dudley LeBlanc, purveyor of the infamous Hadacol”.

As Time magazine once described Mr. LeBlanc: “a stem-winding salesman who knows every razzle-dazzle switch in the pitchman’s trade” !!

Fantastic Man

Although I’m normally quite a romantic, I am seduced by the crisp minimal packaging of Byredo products. They make me want to edit, edit, edit and get down to the simple basics of a blank canvas.

“The founder of BYREDO PARFUMS, Mr. BEN GORHAM, worked closely with the editors of FANTASTIC MAN to find the scent that encapsulates both the magazine and the fragrance house.”

Alexis Smart, Flower Remedies

I had the pleasure of meeting with the talented Alexis Smart for a hand mixed  flower remedy the other day. It was such a treat to sit with Alexis – bright, shining, and calm, she asked me some questions and told me a bit about the history of the flower remedies. Have you heard of Bach’s flower remedies?

Discovered in the 1930’s by Dr Bach, the remedies are herbal infusions made from the flowering part of wild plants, bushes or trees. They are created for wellness and healing, and who doesn’t need more of that in their life?

RMS Beauty

RMS Beauty by Rose – Marie Swift has a hand and skin balm that’s amazing. You will love it – it’s pure, hydrating, and so delicious! I use it for my lips, hands, and put it around my eyes as well.  The collection is organic, non toxic, free of any synthetic preservatives, synthetic vitamins and genetically altered ingredients. Next on my list is the raw coconut cream – it can be used as makeup remover, facial cleanser, and a body moisturizer. Try it out and tell me if you love it!

Healthy and Delicious – for body and home

I love Linneas Lights. Their recycled packaging is divine, and each candle is pure soy wax individually hand poured in small batches. As a Mom and daughter company, they’re committed to keeping their production close to home with their eye on the product from start to finish. With scents like Black Vanilla, Tuberose, and Cashmere they have a little bit of something for everyone.

Perfect little treat for Mother’s Day!! So lovely:

Oh! and for the guys:

Do you know Portland General Store?

Founded in 2007 from an impulse towards natural and authentic products, PGS is a small company that makes personal care products by hand, in small batches, using basic and natural ingredients. Scents of whiskey, tobacco and  santal (Sandalwood) are blended with the bergamont, lavendar, and neroli. Delicious:

Cote Bastide

Have you used any products from Cote Bastide? I’ve used their soaps, and I keep the packaging so I can pretend I’m actually en route to Europe!

From their website: Cote Bastide drew its inspiration from forgotten lessons. The profound desire to reawaken our dormant senses, to regain lost sensations, and to re-capture our wonderful memories, and to remind us of the simple pleasures in life.

Yes please!!

Evan Healy – pure, clean, and luxurious

I’ve recently discovered Evan Healy‘s skincare collection. WOW. She offers an artisan – quality skin care treatment line with a holistic approach that draws from traditional plant lore, aromatherapy, ayurveda, and homeopathy. Healing!! I use her Whipped Shea Butter with Olive Oil Leaf for hands & dry spots and cannot get enough of the light, whipped texture & the natural, slightly sweet scent. Her products are created to encourage balance, and to allow the skin to regulate naturally on it’s own. Simple, smart products – I’ll be diving in to the full line soon. Highly recommended.
