gift guides

Terrain

I guest curated a gift guide over on Shop Terrain the other day, and a true pleasure it was. Have you seen what they have going on for Holiday? Not only are they a lovely bunch over there, but Terrain offers some really well curated selections to inspire. The only challenge I had with the gift guide was editing – many pieces ended up on my own wish list…

Take a look at this dried Gossypium branch, or as we know it as, cotton. It’s the perfect cozy addition to your Holiday floral arrangements.

The details and folk pattern of this glowing paper star lantern are pretty gorgeous, no?

I love Sefte’s Kimsa throw – organic Alpaca yarn hand-selected and knitted by Andean women in Peru. I use Sefte blankets for many of my gifts and they’re always a hit. Check it out and let me know what you think!

spartan & bows & arrows…part deux

I recently uncovered these pics I took at Spartan and the neighboring boutique Bows & Arrows in Austin. You may know of these two great little boutiques; you can easily spend an hour or two perusing through their cases of delicate finds.

I recently blogged about a package I received in the mail which was packed tight with the blue & white teacups down below. They have now moved to a secured resting spot in my sun-soaked kitchen….There are lovely vignettes with delicate details throughout the stores. Simple touches and natural materials make you feel like you’re visiting a friends home. Everything seems easy, but cared for at the same time. I kept coming back to the scissors below. Although my own well – loved pair has carried me through many creative endeavors over the years, these worn brass beauties had me thinking about starting a collection. These simple necklaces were a perfect fit in the store. Unassuming, easy, and perfect for layering – but most importantly, easily folded into your every day.

If you aren’t in Austin, check out the websites from the stores. They have a great selection online !

I had a lovely dinner on Friday night with a friend. Let me tell you, his skin was glowing – literally glowing in a just exercised – I’ve been healthy – forever kind of way. wise women everywhere…

A special idea for you in honor of Mother’s Day – some reading that should find a home on coffee tables everywhere. Joyce Tenneson traveled throughout America to photograph and interview women ages 65 to l00 to capture there stories in this lovely book. Her journey connected her to  stories of vital, energetic and beautiful women from all walks of life. Many lessons, and a quite a few shortcuts to be learned from these ladies.
