How about falling in love with this cute little Japanese store with a European twist? Located in the heart of Harajuku, Cinq 5‘s buyers travel through Europe hand picking items for their adorable shop. Inspired by Nordic folk art and pastoral French details, they add their own touch by making basket weave rugs and accessories. Love this Japanese take of a 19th C bucolic European outing. The world is full of inspiration, isn’t it?

My favorite way to bring some new life to neutrals is by bringing in some texture and mix of materials. The below pieces take the soft palette away from being too precious, don’t you think? Do you have a fave?

a novel clutch
While up in SF last week, I was lucky enough to spy some of French designer Olympia Le-Tan‘s hand stitched novel clutches in person. Le-Tan, the former design studio assistant at Chanel and frequent contributer to Purple and Jalouse, really has something special going on here. Taken from covers of her favorite first edition books, she painstakingly hand stitches each clutch, floral lining and all. The thing is, they really do feel precious in a non-sentimental kind of way – witty, charming, and just like an old book, you get the feeling they’ve traveled a long & personal journey to make it into your own little hands.

oh, missoni
How gorgeous are these pieces from Missoni’s fall line? Icy pastel hues, chunky textures & those striking red lips to boot. This is like a little girl’s dress up dream all grown up. Oh! And of course to the Missoni mix we can add the upcoming Target collaboration …

chanel, one ad at a time
So, I have to admit I fell down a lovely rabbit hole my friends, browsing through old Chanel ads. Some of these I remember, actually, tacking up the Christy and Claudia’s on my walls from the old WWD’s. I think that Catherine Deneuve has to be my favorite though – she coined that faraway stare, don’t you think? I suggest joining me in the rabbit hole by clicking through to browse. No doubt you’ll enjoy getting lost for awhile!

russian flowers
I’ve been a long-time fan of Matthias Vriens-McGrath’s work – his photos always give off a crisp, cool, illuminated light. I had the pleasure of working with him on a shoot a while back, and let me tell you – the models skin had never looked quite so luminous. What do you think of the floral mixes below? Love the country frau vibe mixed with the prints, and yes – the green boots. Adore!
