tom gallant

Alright friends, get ready for gorgeousness. How beautiful are these paper flower collages by Tom Gallant?  Below we have- chrysanthemum, acanthus & wild tulips crafted using Japanese cut-out techniques….

You may be surprised as I was that these are cut from the pages of gentlemen magazines.  Yes, ladies, those gentlemen mags I am talking about. Tom says his unlikely choice of material is to prove that even traditionally shunned items contain a hidden beauty.  I’m with you,Tom.

Spoken like a true artist, he hopes his work encourages  people to take a deeper look around at their surroundings for hidden beauty and possibilities. I appreciate that Tom’s work reminds us to not judge work based on it’s medium and to see the beauty in everything.

How refreshing is life when you’re inspired? Are you feeling inspired this season?

treasures!

I am in LOVE with this French Limoges vase from the 1920′s. There is nothing I want to see more on this Friday morning than some bright renoncules spilling over the edges. Red and black stripes on purple enamel? Masculine deco vibe in a hand-painted vase? My vote is YES. What do you think? Do you prefer something simple for your flowers, or do you like the idea of a color explosion?

Alexis Smart, Flower Remedies

I had the pleasure of meeting with the talented Alexis Smart for a hand mixed  flower remedy the other day. It was such a treat to sit with Alexis – bright, shining, and calm, she asked me some questions and told me a bit about the history of the flower remedies. Have you heard of Bach’s flower remedies?

Discovered in the 1930’s by Dr Bach, the remedies are herbal infusions made from the flowering part of wild plants, bushes or trees. They are created for wellness and healing, and who doesn’t need more of that in their life?
